What are orthosis?

Orthosis is an in vitro device used to alter the functional properties or structure of the neuromuscular and skeletal systems. Formerly known as brace, bracket, aids, etc.

In 1992, the International Organization for Standardization confirmed and published the uniform name and classification of orthoses. According to the role of the orthosis, the orthosis is divided into three categories, rehabilitation, functional and preventive orthoses.

Rehabilitation orthosis is mainly used in sports injury or post-operative rehabilitation training to protect injured parts and promote motor function recovery. A functional orthosis ensures that the athlete can return to the game after a sports injury or surgery to avoid injury to the injured area. Prophylactic orthoses are mainly used in normal areas to avoid sports injuries.
