Commonly used finished rehabilitation orthosis

- Dec 17, 2019-

In the clinic, we will find that many patients come to the orthopedic brace room. In fact, there is no need for an orthopedic technician to customize a brace for them, but many finished braces or braces can help them solve the problem.

The following is a list of some commonly-used finished braces/protectors:

1. neck support

This type of cervical collar usually uses foam sponge or rubber, which is a soft cervical collar that can slightly limit the flexion and extension of the cervical spine, is lightweight and comfortable to wear. It is suitable for neck muscle sprains, mild cervical osteopathy, cervical spondylosis, and late rehabilitation after cervical spine surgery. Such cervical braces are not suitable for patients with high requirements for fixation such as fractures and dislocations.

2, soft waist

It is often made of strong and wear-resistant elastic materials or non-elastic soft materials such as leather and canvas. Built-in rigid struts or pressure pads can give certain pressure to the abdomen and soft tissues. It can reduce the weight load of the muscles around the waist by increasing abdominal pressure. , And through three-point force and sensory feedback to restrict spine movements, thereby correcting deformities, reducing weight-bearing and eliminating pain. Suitable for a variety of lumbar syndromes, postoperative abdominal fixation, lower back pain, soft tissue damage to the waist, etc.

3, knee pads, elbow pads

The knee pads are made of strong elastic fabric, and can also have lateral branches to increase the stability of the knee joint. It is often used to assist in the treatment of inflammation and strains of the soft tissue around the knee joint, collateral ligament damage, cruciate ligament damage, and zygomatic dislocation. Elbow pads are often used for soft tissue damage to the elbow joint, tendinitis of the elbow joint, bursitis, tennis elbow, golf elbow, etc.

4. Varicose socks (stretch socks)

Stretch socks are usually made of Lycra, nylon, etc. According to their shape, they can be divided into long sleeves, short sleeves, and pantyhose. These socks have a mechanical distribution and function. Reduced to 70% -90% of the maximum pressure in the lower leg and 25% -45% of the maximum pressure in the thigh. This decreasing change in pressure can make the lower extremity venous blood return, effectively relieve or improve the lower extremity and the pressure on the venous valve. Often suitable for long-standing people such as teachers, nurses, etc., sedentary people such as white-collar workers, civil servants, obese people, patients after major surgery, patients with hemiplegia, already suffering from lower extremity vein disease.

5, arch pad

Generally made of silicone, the design incorporates mechanical principles, effectively supports the arch of the foot, adjusts the uneven load of the feet, improves the irregular arrangement of the foot bones, and can promote the healthy growth of the arch if used for a long time. It is suitable for all kinds of flat feet.
